kunstenFESTIVALdesarts - Introduction 2002

This is the seventh time that the month of May will be sporting the colours of the KunstenFESTIVALdesArts in Brussels. It is said that seven is a highly symbolic number: for some it denotes totality, eternal life, and a complete and perfectly made human being; for others the number has more modest connotations of a ‘cycle’, ‘passage’ or ‘union of opposites’. These describe more accurately the image of a festival that brings ‘differences’ and ‘contradictions’ together, now returning every year to transport different cultures to our door. This year we will be taking a journey to sixteen venues showing some twenty new works and a total of thirty-two projects that have come from all four corners of the world and from both sides of Belgium’s linguistic divide. >>>
